Bradford, Deanery of Holsworthy

Chanter 225A, 340-341

  1. Population and dissenters: The number of Families in this Parish is thirty two. In this computation where there are three or four Poor people that live under the same Roof, I reckon them as one Family. There are no dissenters of any Denomination whatever in this Parish, or Meeting House.

  2. Public or charity schools: There is no Publick or Charity School in this Parish endowed or otherwise maintain’d.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: To all these I answer in the negative; there neither being any charitable Endowments here, or any Lands or Tenements left for the repair of the Church, or other use, that Ever I heard of.

  4. Residence upon cure: I reside upon my Cure, and live in my Parsonage House.

  5. Curate: [No answer given]

  6. Divine service at other churches: No.

  7. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is perform’d twice a day every Lords day, and there is always a Sermon in the Morning. The 30th of January, the 29th of May and the 5th of November, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, have always divine service performed on them; and so Should every Saints day, could I get a Congregation to pray to.

  8. Frequency of communion: Six times in the year viz: twice at Christmas (on Christmas day and the Sunday after) twice at Easter (on Easter day and the Sunday after), on Whitsunday, and at Michaelmas.

  9. Number of communicants: In this Parish there are about 112 Communicants. I have Sometimes 20, Sometimes 30, Sometimes 40 or upwards, which come to receive; and, as near as I can guess, there were 40 or more which communicated Easter last.

  10. Catechising of children: I catechized all the summer on Sundays in the afternoon; which is Sufficient to instruct the Children, there being but few, and the parish very Small. The Parishioners are tollerably careful in Sending their Children and Apprentices, when appointed.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: Here are no Chapels, either in Ruins, or otherwise.
