Chanter 225A, 9-10

  1. Population and dissenters: There are twenty six Families within ye Parish. Only one Family of Dissenters of the Presbyterian Denomination. There is no licensed or other Meeting House of Dissenters within ye parish.

  2. Public or charity schools: There is no Publick or Charity School endow’d or otherwise maintain’d within the Parish.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is no Alms-House &c neither have any Lands or Tenements been left for ye Repair of the Church, or other Pious use, that I know of.

  4. Residence upon cure: Mr Joseph Paul the present Rector doth not reside upon his Cure, but at White-Church in the County of Dorset. The Reason of his present non-Residence, He hath made your Lordship acquainted with.

  5. Curate: Here is no residing Curate. But Mr Salter Minister of Musbury, who had the Cure of the Church during Mr Upham’s weakness, has serv’d it likewise during the sequestration, & will continue the Cure till Lady Day next, if it meets wth your Lordships Approbation.

  6. Divine service at other churches: [No answer given]

  7. Frequency of divine service: On Christmas Day – On all Days of Publick Humiliation appointed by Autority – and once every Lord’s Day at one of the Clock in the Afternoon with a sermon: and I return afterwards to read Prayers at my own Parish Church.

  8. Frequency of communion: Four Times in the Year.

  9. Number of communicants: There are six Communicants within the Parish. Five of them usually receive. Five of them Communicated at Easter last.

  10. Catechising of children: The Children are Catechized in the Church for seven or eight sundays in the year when I could most conveniently attend it and the Parishoners generally send their children & some their servts to be Examined & instructed by me.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: There is no Chapel within the Parish.

    As I have had the Cure of Combyne for some Time past to which Mr Paul is as yet a Stranger, I have inserted these answers at his Request. Wm Salter Rectr: of Musbury.
