Chanter 225A, 31-32

  1. Population and dissenters: There are twenty eight Houses & Cottages within the parish; but no Dissenter of any kind.

  2. Public or charity schools: There is no Charity School.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is no Almshouse or Hospital: but there are Lands of about the Value of five pounds yearly, which I think have not been apply’d of late years, so properly as they ought. There is but one Feoffee left; but I have a now got the Writings in my Possession in Order to have a new Enfeoffment made, and then I hope every thing will be set right.

  4. Residence upon cure: I do reside in the Parsonage House.

  5. Curate: I have no resident Curate; but having receiv’d a Fall from my Horse some years ago which Disabled me from supplying my Cure, and my Benefice being small (the Value of the whole parish being but £320 yearly) I have four of my Neighbours namely Mr Somaster Rector of Widworthy, Mr Hall vicar of Salcomb, Mr Lewis Vicar of Buckrel & Mr Keate Curate of Southleigh, who serve it by Turns once every Sunday generally in the afternoon, for doing which, I allow them twenty pounds yearly.

  6. Divine service at other churches: I do not.

  7. Frequency of divine service: I refer to Qu: the 5th

  8. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament is adminstred four times a year.

  9. Number of communicants: I think there were Ten or eleven yt communicated Easter last.

  10. Catechising of children: The Children are Catechiz’d only now & then, their Parents teach them their Catechism at home.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: There’s no Chapel in the parish.
