Population and dissenters: There are about eighty two families in the Parish of Pinhoe, & but one single Woman a Dissenter, who professes her self a Roman Catholick. I know of no licenced or other Meeting house in this Parish.
Public or charity schools: There is a School maintain’d in this Parish by a Legacy of forty shillings yearly, given by Sr John Elwell Baronet, whereby eight Children are taught to read; & due care is taken to instruct them in the Principles of the Christian Religion, according to the Doctrine of the Church of England & to bring them to Church as the Canon requires.
Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment:
There is in this Parish no Alms-house, Hospital, or other Charitable Endowment. But there hath been an ordinary house left for the repair of the Church; & for other pious uses, as follow; The Income of two small fields to be distributed among poor people above sixty years of Age & five pounds yearly out of an Estate in Broad Clist to be lain out in Linnen Cloath for day-labourers. Which Charities, I believe, are under the Direction of Feofees & in ye management of them I have never known or heard of any abuse or Frauds committed. I have been inform’d likewise that forty shillings were given by one Mr John Dally to be lent to four poor people for a year without interest; which are now lost.
