Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment:
No Lands nor Tenements have been left for ye rep[ai]r of our Church. We have an Alms-house (founded by John Bampfylde Esqr) Anno Domini 1630) Endow’d with Lands, which bring in £8 per Annum clear: which ye poor {therein} regularly receive according to ye will of ye charitable donor.
Residence upon cure: I reside, at present, personally, upon my Cure, & in my Parsonage-house.
Curate: I have a residing Curate; Mr Renatus Hele; duly qualified according to ye Canons in that behalf: he lives with Sr Richard Warwick Bampfylde Bart: ye allowance I make him, is £30 per Annum, Easter-dues, & ye perquisites when he is in place to officiate.
Frequency of divine service: Divine service is perform’d in our church, on all occasional days appointed by Civil-Authority; Sometimes on Saints days twice Every Lords-day, generally; with a Sermon both in ye forenoon & afternoon, throughout ye year.
Frequency of communion: The Holy Sacrament of ye Lord’s Supper is administred in our Church four times in ye year.
Number of communicants: In our Parish are about 80ty Communicants upwards of 30ty usually communicate: Easter-last, (as I remember) were 39, or 40ty Communicants.
Catechising of children: The Children are Catechis’d in our Church, (on Sundays, in ye afternoon, after ye 2d {Lesson} Lesson) during ye whole season of Lent & my Parishioners, (ye Heads of families) are for ye most part careful to prepare <& to send forth> their Child:n & Apprintice’s for yt purpose.
