  1. Population and dissenters: There are about, or near sixty Families – & not a Dissenter of any Denomination: nor any Licencd or other Meeting House.

  2. Public or charity schools: There is no publick or Charity School in ye Parish. I give Bibles & other Books annually to poor Children & other’s to be instructed in ye Principles of the Christian Religion.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is no Alm’s House or Hospital, or other Charitable Endowment in ye Parish – only a House lately erected for ye use of Pawpers; nor are there any Lands or Tenements left for the Repair of the Chapel or Church or other pious uses, yt I know of.

  4. Residence upon cure: There is no Parsonage House belonging to the Chapelry or Parish of Sourton.

  5. Curate: The Curate resides in Bridestow, Mr Thomas Gotham as express’d in my Answer to your Lordship’s Queries relating to Bridestow.

  6. Divine service at other churches: He performs Divine Service at Bridestow also, as well as in ye Chappel or Church of Sourton; as won’t to, by ye same Person or Curate.

  7. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is perform’d on all Sundays and Holy Days on every third Sunday with a Sermon in ye Chappel or Church of Sourton in ye Morning; & on every other Sunday Divine Service with a Sermon is performed therein the afternoon, as express’d in my answer to your Lordship’s Queries to Bridestow.

  8. Frequency of communion: The Holy Sacrament of ye Lords Supper is administr’d four Times in ye year, as in Bridastow.

  9. Number of communicants: About Sixty. Forty of which usually receive or near yt number, & on the Sunday after Easter last part, rather more (as my Curate conjectures) then received.

  10. Catechising of children: The Children are Catechiz’d on six Sundays in ye year immediately after ye 2d Lesson in the afternoon. The Parishoners send their Children & Servts to be instructed in their Catechism.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: It is Itself a Chapel or Daughter Church, & about a Mile & half distant from ye Church of Bridestow, to which it Belongs, It is served by ye Curate of Bridestow as won’t to be by ye same Person as Bridestow & Sourton are only one Living or Benefice.

    I was Collated to the Chapel of Sourton at the same Time as to Bridestow when I gave up the vicarage of Colyton with the Chapel’s of Shute & Monkton, Oct: 10th 1734, as more consistent for me to continue ye Curate of Lamerton under ye Revd Mr Chancelour Fursman ye present Vicar as Bridestow & Lamerton are congiuous Parishes.
