Chanter 225A, 21-22

  1. Population and dissenters: Families in Thorncombe – 219 of which Ten are Pres: two Quakers & one anabaptist.

  2. Public or charity schools: We have a charity School endow’d with an house, orchard & garden, in which are taught sixteen poor children, to read English, & to write, & are instructed in the principles of the Christian Religion.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: None.

  4. Residence upon cure: I doe personally reside upon my cure, & in my vicaridg house.

  5. Curate: I have a residing Curate, who lives near me, to whom I allow forty pounds per annum, If your Lordship pleas to License him his name is Thomas England.

  6. Divine service at other churches: Not in any besides my own.

  7. Frequency of divine service: On every Lords day twice is Divine service Performed, with a sermon in morning and Afternoon.

  8. Frequency of communion: Four times in the year.

  9. Number of communicants: About forty or fifty communicants usually receive the communion not full forty last Easter they being at London.

  10. Catechising of children: The children are catechiz’d in the summer time when sent, but having a sermon both in the forenoon & afternoon in the winter, they are not.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: There are no Chapels in our parish.
