Chanter 225B, 701-702

  1. Population and dissenters: There are thirty six Families in the Parish of Loxore No Dissenters of any Denomination no licenced or other Meeting-House.

  2. Public or charity schools: There is no Charity School in the said Parish of Loxore but the Clerk’s wife teaches the children to read and is paid by their Parents She has been ordered to bring the said Children to Church Holy-days or send them with her-Husband to be Catechized but has hitherto refused.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is no Alms house or Hospital in the said Parish of Loxore. No Lands or Tenements have been left for the Repair of our Church or other pious use. But there is a Benefaction of six Pounds by Mrs White late of the Parish of Sherwill a Benefaction of ten Pounds by Mr Richard Squire late of the Parish of Landkey and a Benefaction of five Pounds by Mr Phillip Joce late of the said Parish of Loxore to be lent for Interest to be distributed among the unrelieved poor labouring men of the said Parish of Loxore which said Sums are accordingly lent out and the Interest duly and equitably distributed.

  4. Residence upon cure: I reside personally upon my Cure and in my Parsonage House unless called by necessary Busyness to High=Bray which I hold by Dispensation with the said Parish of Loxore.

  5. Curate: I never had a Curate upon the said Parish of Loxore.

  6. Divine service at other churches: I perform Divine Service in no other chuch besides those of Loxore and High=Bray.

  7. Frequency of divine service: I perform Divine Service and preach <only> once every Sunday at Loxore and once at High=Bray because at present there is no Curate at High=Bray but I have pitched upon one Mr Leworthy of the adjoining Parish of Charel [i.e. Charles] who will wait on your Lordship as directed the next Publick Ordination for Deacon’s Orders. I likewise perform Divine Service once every Holy-day at Loxore and once at High=Bray not being let by Sickness or some other urgent Cause.

  8. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament of the Lords Supper is administred in the Church of the said Parish of Loxore five times every year viz twice at Easter once at Whitsunday once at Michaelmass and once at Christmas.

  9. Number of communicants: There are about seventy six Communicants in the said Parish of Loxore between twenty and thirty usually receive the Number of them who Communicated at the two Sacraments at Easter last past was about fifty.

  10. Catechising of children: The Children that are at Church are called upon every second Sunday <in the Afternoon> to come forth to be Catechized but sometimes of late in vain.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: There is no Chapel or Ruins of any Chapel in the said Parish of Loxore.
