  1. Residence, curate and lecturer: The Rector of this Parish is Dean of Chichester, at which Place, I believe, he usually resides. I am his Curate and live in the Parsonage House. I have no Licence, but intend by your Lordships Leave, to take one soon. My Rector allows me Forty Pounds a Year. Here is no Lecturer.

  2. Other benefices: I never heard that the Dean of Chichester had any Benefice besides this.

  3. Divine service at other churches: I perform Divine Service at no other Church than this, except it is to assist a neighbouring Clergyman, and then, I take Care that this Church is serv'd one Part of the Day.

  4. Frequency of divine service: Every Lord's Day with a Sermon in the Morning and Afternoon, except for the Reason above assign'd

  5. Frequency of communion: Upon the three great Festivals, and at Michaelmas, at which Times there are present about Thirty Communicants.

  6. Catechising of children: I catechise the Youth in Lent.

  7. Church fabric: The Church and Chancel are in good Repair, and the Church Yard is well kept. All Things are decent for Divine Service except the Surplice.

  8. Glebe terrier: Here is no Terrier in the Parish. But I am informed there is one in your Lordship's Court.

  9. Number of families: Upon a Calculation made there are about Fifty six.

  10. Chapels: Here is no Chapel.

  11. Papists, dissenters and meeting houses: I cannot find that there are any Papists in this Parish, nor any Meeting Houses for Dissenters.

  12. School, alms-houses, hospital and charitable endowments: Here is a reading School. For the Support of which there were Twenty Pounds given by the Will of one Mrs Eliz: Prideaux to be lain out [in] Lands, or putt at Interest. The Money is in the Hands of __ Chichester Esqr in this County. And there are five poor Children kept at School upon the Profits of it. Here is [no] Hospital, Alms-House, or Parochial Library.

  13. Charity: There is a Field in the Parish of Whimple, which is let out at one Pound eleven Shillings per Annum and which is applied for the Support of poor Labourers of this Parish according to the Will of the Donor.

    Priest's orders and institution: I am only a Curate. My Priests Orders are dated the Twenty <first> Day of May one Thousand seven <Hundred> and fifty eight.
