Chanter 232A, 101

  1. Residence, curate and lecturer: I do not reside personally upon this Benefice, but I have a resident Curate upon it, whose Name is Luxton, whom I allow a Salary of forty Pounds per Annum with the Surplice Fees, & some other Emoluments. I believe he is not as yet licenced being but lately appointed to the Cure. There is no Lecturer.

  2. Other benefices: I have another Benefice named Ideford near Chudleigh, where I reside.

  3. Divine service at other churches: My Curate does not perform divine Service at any Church besides [illegible deletion] Winkleigh.

  4. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is perform'd twice on every Lord's Day, with a Sermon both in the Morning & Afternoon excepting the winter months.

  5. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is administer'd five Times a year. The Number of Communicants is generally about 50 or 60.

  6. Catechising of children: The youth are catechised in the Summer Months, generally about June or July.

  7. Church fabric: The Church & Chancel are in good Repair; The Church yard is in good order, & we have all Things decent for divine Service.

  8. Glebe terrier: There is no Terrier of the Glebe Lands &c.

  9. Number of families: There are about two Hundred & Eighteen Families in the Parish of Winkleigh.

  10. Chapels: There is no Chapel within my Parish.

  11. Papists, dissenters and meeting houses: There are no reputed Papists, nor Dissenters of any Denomination.

  12. School, alms-houses, hospital and charitable endowments: There is no public School. There are three Alms-Houses for poor Widows for the Support & Repairs whereof one Tenement & a Field were appropriated by the Donor. All which are duly managed according to the Direction of their Founders.

  13. Charity: A Benefaction of £2 12s 6d per Annum & one Shilling every Sunday (which last is payable from the Chamber of Exeter) were given to the Poor, which Charities are duly applied.

    Priest's orders and institution: My Institution to the living of Winkleigh bears date ye 12th of April 1771. My Priests' Orders were dated the 20th June 1762.
