To the Revd the Minister of Yarnscombe

Chanter 232A, 55

  1. Residence, curate and lecturer: I do not reside upon this Cure but on my Living at Ashford. My Curate does not reside because the value of the Living being only 46 per annum will not maintain a resident Curate: my Curate is the Revd Christopher Boyse who serves the Parish of Horwood about four miles distant from my Parish Church; I give him the Salary of twenty Guineas per annum. He is not licenced. We have no Lecturer.

  2. Other benefices: I have the Small Benefice of Ashford worth 40 per annum it lies about three miles west of Barnstable.

  3. Divine service at other churches: I do not perform Divine Service in this Church, but in my Vicarage of Ashford & Curacy of Marwood.

  4. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is perform'd in this Church but once on the Lords day with a Sermon, because the Living being So Small (only 46 per annum) will not afford a resident Curate to do double Duty.

  5. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament is administer'd four times times [sic] in a year - we have about 20 Communicants.

  6. Catechising of children: As many as will attend after public notice given in the Church are catechis'd in the Summer months.

  7. Church fabric: Our Church, Chancel, & other things for Divine Service are in decent repair.

  8. Glebe terrier: We have no Terrier.

  9. Number of families: About forty Six.

  10. Chapels: We have no Chapel in the Parish.

  11. Papists, dissenters and meeting houses: We have no Papists, or dissenting meeting-Houses in the Parish.

  12. School, alms-houses, hospital and charitable endowments: We have one Day-School for Childn we have no Library. We have 100 left for the use of the Poor to be laid out in Bread as the Annual Interest of the money will afford, which is duly applied.

  13. Charity: There is in an Estate of Land in the Parish of Wesley at 10 yearly Rent left for the repairing the Church & Tower, which is duly applied.

Priest's orders and institution: My Institution bears date March 20. 1770
