The digitised images have been made available to researchers and put on display at Exeter Custom House, where two exhibitions, ‘The Living Archive of Exeter’s Waterfront’ and ‘Exeter through the Lens’, celebrated the project. The images have also been used in three reminiscence sessions at Watermeadow care home in Exeter focused on: childhood in Exeter; young adulthood and social life; The war years and post-war regeneration. All participants were above the age of 80, over 65% were residents of Exeter/Topsham and over 60% living with a form of dementia and/or cognitive impairment. To accommodate this, conversational approaches and tactics were planned, inclusive of a range of sensory stimulation techniques and gentle original topic prompts when required. The feedback was extremely positive. At the same time, a series of fifteen printmaking and drama workshops, centred around pictures from the collection, were delivered across five schools and other educational institutions across Exeter in collaboration with the charity Daisi. Isca work in care homes and schools has formed the basis of a promotional film, which has been produced by the filmmaker John Tomkins.

The Friends of Devon’s Archives supported the South West Heritage Trust in the Isca Photographic Collection Project which is rescuing and digitally preserving thousands of photos of Exeter and its residents during the first half of the 20th century.
